Asrar Damdam is a scientist and entrepreneur who pursued her Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering with her research focusing on the Internet of Food. Asrar was awarded the L’Oréal-UNESCO “For Women in Science Middle East Young Talents” Award in 2020 and was named to Forbes 30 under 30 list of innovators for 2021. She is the founder and CEO of Uvera, a Silicon Valley cleantech startup that focuses on tackling the global challenge of reducing food waste to half by 2030. Uvera product takes only 30-seconds to keep food fresher for longer, by up to 97% on average, and without any use of chemicals. The mission of Uvera is to reduce food waste and contribute to spreading environmental awareness and sustainability at the consumer and retail levels.

Co-hosted by ReFED and The Spoon, this Innovation Showcase will feature a slate of new and emerging food waste solutions – presented by the start-ups behind them – across sustainable supply chains and consumer categories. This session will consist of three short fireside chats moderated by Michael Wolf from The Spoon - one each for supply chain tech and consumer tech.
