Bio:

Having grown up on a family farm, Katie is passionate about building resilient and equitable food systems. She joined the GFN product sourcing team in December 2020 and leads strategic food and agricultural partnerships. Previously, Katie spent six years with Oregon Food Bank as Strategic Sourcing Manager overseeing a team working with farmers, ranchers, fishers, food processors, retailers, and others to source nutritious food for people experiencing hunger. She spent four years with Oregon Department of Agriculture, where she led a USDA grant program and supported food, beverage, and agricultural companies to grow their businesses. Her previous work also includes 10 years with a publishing and marketing firm focused on sustainable business. Katie enjoys community building and has served on the boards of directors for: Oregon’s Land Conservation and Development Commission, Oregon State University Food Innovation Center, Farmers Ending Hunger, and Zenger Farm. Katie lives in Portland, Oregon.

Welcome to the Summit! We'll start with a special Land Acknowledgment and then introduce you to all that the next two days have to offer.


How can we create a sustainable future through food waste reduction on a global, national, and local stage? Food waste is a systemwide and far-reaching problem that extends beyond the U.S. Featuring three fireside chats – on international food loss and waste protocols; U.S. food waste-related policy and strategy; and the Pacific Coast Food Waste Commitment regional initiative – this session will outline the progress being made around the world, and what new opportunities exist for collaborative action.
