Madeline Keating is a senior advocate for food waste reduction, urban sustainability, and the creation of a more resilient and equitable food system. As the leader of NRDC's Food Matters Initiative, she collaborates with cities nationwide to pioneer progressive policies and initiatives for mitigating food waste. Grounded in an equity-focused approach, Keating champions community-based solutions that address the root causes surrounding food waste and food security. She plays a crucial role in advising on local, state, and federal policy solutions to reduce food waste, contributing to comprehensive strategies across various levels of government. Keating holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Colorado College, a master's degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Colorado Denver, and is a certified master composter. She is based in NRDC's Washington, D.C., office.
