Bio:
Sophia is a multi-hyphenate creative whose work and abilities meet at the center of sustainability, systems thinking, art and activism. She joined Baltimore City’s Department of Public Works as their first Zero Waste Manager in November 2022, working to expand municipal waste diversion practices and develop organizational zero waste culture. Prior to joining Public Works, she worked on NRDC’s Food Matters program at the Baltimore Office of Sustainability and at the Institute for Local Self-Reliance as their Baltimore Lead on the Composting for Community program. She seeks to empower communities by harnessing the transformative potential of circular economies and sustainable food systems, believing firmly that every individual deserves access to opportunities that uplift and nourish both people and the planet.
