Bio:
Hunter Guthrie has spent the last four years working with his non-profit, A Taste of Home, Inc., to solve the dual problem of reducing food waste and food insecurity in Northern Virginia. A Taste of Home has partnered with restaurants like Panera, Crumbl, and Chick Fil A to retrieve their unsold food and deliver it to a shelter. To date, Hunter has rescued close to a million meals from landfills. He’s appeared on panels where he’s suggested ideas on how to eliminate food waste, and he presented his research at the 2024 Clean Energy Summit on ways that Washington, DC, can improve its energy consumption.
Hunter is the youngest person in his high school district to earn an AA degree, having graduated from Northern Virginia Community College (summa cum laude and as a Presidential Scholar) when he was just 16 years old. He’s the recipient of the 2024 Planet Protector award from Cox Communications and has been recognized for his community service on the regional, state, and national level.
