Bio:

Jairo Gonzalez is an entrepreneurial leader and master composter dedicated to advancing sustainability through innovative organics recycling solutions. A recognized zero-waste specialist, he has designed and implemented cost-effective food and organic waste recycling programs across both urban and rural landscapes. These initiatives not only reduce food waste and enrich soil health but also divert organic material from landfills and incinerators—fueling local economies and building resilient communities.

Jairo is also a driving force for systemic change. He actively works to influence public policy, advance environmental regulations, and build widespread support for climate action. A passionate advocate for green jobs and the circular economy, he champions zero-waste strategies that unlock new revenue streams and promote environmental justice.

As the founder of the New Jersey Composting Council and the Organics Recycling Foundation, Jairo has emerged as a prominent voice in the organics waste management movement. Through his visionary leadership, he empowers governments, businesses, and communities to embrace sustainable practices—paving the way toward a healthier planet and a regenerative future.

Jairo holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Oregon and an MFA from the Vermont College of Fine Arts, blending his academic grounding in policy and the arts with a deep commitment to environmental transformation.
