Bio:
Charles Brooke is the Program Director for Livestock Enteric Methane Mitigation at Spark Climate Solutions, where he leads a team that accelerates action and innovation across research, policy, and markets. He also serves on the Global Methane Hub Enteric Fermentation Accelerator science oversight committee.
Prior to Spark, Charles was the lead scientist for short-lived climate pollutants at the California Department of Food and Agriculture, where he created the state's first program dedicated to enteric methane research and served as the SB 1383 liaison between CDFA, the California Air Resources Board, and CalRecycle.
A microbiologist by training, Charles brings extensive hands-on experience in food safety and quality, including work under BRCGS and SQF certification schemes. He has served as a PCQI for USDA-inspected meat harvesting and processing operations, as well as tree crop commodities, giving him a grounded, practical understanding of where safety, quality, and sustainability converge across the food supply chain.
