Bio:
Claudia Sánchez Castro is a biologist with master’s degrees in Applied Biotechnology and in Energy and Environmental Policy and Management. With over 18 years of experience in the federal environmental sector, she has led national and trilateral (Mexico–United States–Canada) initiatives on biodiversity, sustainability, and food loss and waste reduction.
She serves as National Leader of Pacto por la Comida, Mexico’s national platform to address food loss and waste, led by the Mexican Food Banking Network (Red BAMX). The platform drives cross-sector collaboration to measure, prevent, and reduce food loss and waste nationwide.
Pacto por la Comida seeks to strengthen strategic alliances, advance circular economy approaches, and scale solutions to recover and redistribute surplus food. It also leads the national campaign “In Mexico, Food Is Not Thrown Away,” focused on driving behavior change and collective action.
