Bio:
Jennifer Bryan-Goforth is a food systems consumer education specialist with Washington State University Extension, where she designs and leads community education programs focused on improving food access, reducing food waste, and strengthening resilient local food systems. Her work centers on consumer education strategies that help households maximize the value of recovered and locally grown foods through practical skills such as food preservation, storage, and seasonal meal planning.
Jennifer has developed innovative Extension programs that combine hands-on preservation education with shared equipment lending libraries, helping communities overcome barriers to preserving surplus and gleaned foods. These models support food recovery organizations, reduce household food waste, and expand equitable access to healthy foods. She also collaborates with Tribal partners and community organizations to support food sovereignty initiatives, including the preservation and preparation of culturally significant traditional foods. Her approach integrates Extension education, community partnerships, and culturally grounded food practices to strengthen long-term food security.
Jennifer holds a master’s degree in Instructional Design and has spent more than two decades designing educational programs that build practical skills and long-term engagement in community food systems. She is also a longtime regenerative farmer and food sovereignty advocate whose work bridges agricultural production, education, and community resilience.
