2026 ReFED Food Waste Solutions Summit

Lauren Hill (she/her) serves as the Engineering Project Manager for statewide compost permitting in the Solid Waste Section at the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Waste Management. In this role, she reviews permit applications for Types 2, 3, and 4 compost facilities, provides technical assistance for permit exempt and yard waste facilities, and oversees compost facility annual reporting. She assists with developing program policy, guidance, and rules in the state of North Carolina. Lauren collaborates with hydrogeologists and environmental specialists within the Section and other intra- and inter- agency staff. She is based in Raleigh, NC.
