2026 ReFED Food Waste Solutions Summit

Sarah Vared invests and builds at the intersection of climate, food systems, and impact capital, drawing on experience as both an investor and operator.

Most recently, she was a Director at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, where she helped lead a mission-driven investment portfolio spanning climate, education, and health, and advanced the use of catalytic capital in partnership with philanthropic strategies. She worked closely with portfolio companies, including Yoto, Sound Agriculture, and Apollo Agriculture, and developed the organization’s climate investment strategy.

Sarah is a co-founder of ReFED, where she helped shape the organization’s early vision and launch the ReFED Roadmap, a defining analysis that mobilized the food system around scalable solutions to reduce food waste. At the same time, she invested in climate and sustainable agriculture companies at MissionPoint Partners. She began her career at Pacific Gas and Electric, developing energy efficiency incentive programs.

She currently serves on the Jewish Federation Bay Area's Impact Investing Committee and is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
